2021 scholarship recipients announced

(Arlington, Virginia) – The Air Force Association (AFA) today announced the recipients of its 2021 Col Aaron Burgstein Memorial Fellowship, Capt Jodi Callahan Memorial Fellowship, Mike and Gail Donley Fellowships, Lt Col Romeo and Bass Ferretti Fellowship, from Colonel Loren J. and Mrs. Lawona R. Spencer Fellowship, John C. and Blanche Lee Lindsay Memorial Fellowship, Dr Sydell Perlmutter Gold Memorial Fellowship, Delta Dental Grants, Trident University Full Scholarship, Pentagon Federal Credit Union pilot, Destin Flight Works pilot training scholarship, Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Scholarship, and Lt Gen George and Vicki Muellner Foundation scholarship.

Through these AFA scholarships, caring organizations and individuals help students pursue their graduate dreams with generous grants. These programs exemplify the lifelong bond of Airmen and the commitment of our supportive community. The AFA is proud to present this year’s scholarship recipients and to recognize all of their contributions to advancing the missions of the AFA and the Department of Air Force.

Col Aaron Burgstein Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship program was created to help minor dependents (officers or enlisted) on active duty, veterans or retired military personnel; reservists; or members of the National Guard from all branches, pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university.

• The father is retired Air Force E-7

• Pursue a bachelor’s degree in hotel leadership at Missouri State University

Capt Jodi Callahan Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance and recognition of $ 2,000 to an active-duty, full-time or reserve aviator (officer or enlisted) pursuing a master’s degree in a non-technical field.

• Air Force Reserve E-4, AFRC

• Pursue a master’s degree in project management at the University of Southern California

Joshua Skinner

• Air National Guard E-6

• Pursue an MBA at the University of West Florida

Amanda gilbert

• Active duty E-7, AETC

• Pursue a master’s degree in organizational psychology at William James College

Mike and Gail Donley Spousal Scholarships

This program awards scholarships of $ 2,500 annually to encourage Air Force spouses around the world to pursue higher education.

Parisa Loftis Hamm

• Spouse is on active duty O-3, AFMC

• Pursue a master’s degree in educational policy and analysis at the Harvard Graduate School of Education

Lea Johnson

• Spouse is on active duty O-4, ACC

• Pursue a master’s degree in mental health and wellness at Grand Canyon University

Jennifer radford

• Spouse is on active duty E-7, AMC

• Pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing at Barnes-Jewish College

Alexandria Dutt

• Spouse is on active duty O-2, AFMC

• Pursue a master’s degree in social work at Boston University

Lieutenant-Colonel Romeo and Bass Ferretti scholarship

This scholarship awards $ 5,000 to minor dependents of airmen enlisted in the Air Force, Reserve or Air National Guard pursuing an undergraduate degree in STEM.

Amanda Brannon

• The father is retired AF E-9

• Pursue a BS in Biological Engineering at the University of Florida

Col Loren J. and Ms. Lawona R. Spencer Scholarship

This scholarship provides $ 5,000 for Air Force personnel (officer or enlisted, Air Force civilian, full-time National Guard, and full-time Reserve) to pursue graduate studies in the areas of management and administration for senior management positions.

• Pursue an MBA at Oklahoma State University

Daniel Anderson

• Active duty E-9, AETC

• Pursue an MBA in Organizational Leadership at the University of Norwich

Jennifer Puvogel

• Active duty O-3, AFMC

• Pursue an MBA at Purdue University

John C. and Blanche Lee Lindsay Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship provides that a scholarship of $ 2,500 will be awarded each year to a child of members of the US Air Force who are pursuing a college education.

Amanda Brannon

• The father is retired Air Force E-9

• Pursue a BS in Biological Engineering at the University of Florida

Dr Sydell Perlmutter Memorial Gold Scholarship

This $ 20,000 scholarship is awarded to daughters of U.S. Air Force members pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.

Abigale Lamontagne

• The father is currently serving with the Air National Guard, E-9

• Pursue a BS in Biomedical Engineering at Northeastern University

Delta Dental Grants

Funded by a grant from Delta Dental, this program provides scholarships and grants to military spouses, military dependents, and transitional service members for the advancement of oral health and wellness.

Amanda Maldonado

• Spouse of the Air Force

• Pursue a DDS at Indiana University School of Dentistry

Andrew Glover

• Service member in transition, Air Force

• Pursue a certificate in periodontics at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.

Katherine sauer

• Military dependency

• Pursuing a BS in Nursing at the University of Valparaiso

Morgan portis

• Dependent on the air force

• Pursue a BS in Nursing at the University of Alabama

Deneishia Haralson

• Dependent on the air force

• Pursue a bachelor’s degree in exercise science at the University of Virginia

Trident University Full Scholarship

Trident University offers three full scholarships to current AFA members. The scholarship can be applied to Trident University bachelor’s and master’s degree programs and is available to current and prospective students.

• Pursuing a master’s degree in information technology management

Keith salzman

• Pursue a master’s degree in leadership

Jamie Pena

• Pursue a BS in computer science

Pentagon Federal Credit Union Pilot Training Scholarships

Sponsored by the Pentagon Federal Credit Union, this scholarship is available to AFA members to complete pilot training towards a private pilot license. The prize will be a maximum of $ 10,000 and will apply to the cost of aircraft and instructor rental at a training center of the recipient’s choice.

Adam neely

• Civilian air patrol instructor

• Former air force military training instructor

• Will train in Altus, OK

Gabrielle Williams

• Deputy Commander of the 148th Fighter Wing

• Pursue a BS in Accounting at Park University

• Will train in Duluth, MN

Destin Flight Works Pilot Training Scholarship

Funded by Vertol, this program provides one AFA member per year with a scholarship to attend pilot training courses leading to a private pilot license at Destin Flight Works in Destin, Florida. The amount will be limited to $ 10,000 for instructor training and aircraft rentals.

Audrey Banfill

• Smokejumper with Missoula Smokejumpers

• BS in Environmental Science from Colorado College

Tuskegee Airmen Memorial Scholarship

Provides $ 1,000 to current and former members of the Air and Space Forces, Air National Guard and Reserve, as well as their spouses or children for college graduation or flight training.

Amber Ide

• The father is retired Air Force O-5

• Pursuing a BS in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Davis

Lt Gen George and Vicki Muellner Foundation Scholarship

This program assists cadets who are members of the Arnold Air Society or the Silver Wings. Two $ 5,000 scholarships are awarded each year.

Ryan casa

• Pursue a bachelor’s degree in computer science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Kylie loman

• Pursuing a double major in psychology in criminology and in French at the University of Utah
