Aeroflot and UAC sign an agreement for the purchase of Russian-made aircraft


Vladivostok. – Sergei AleksandrovskyCEO of PJSC Aeroflot and Yuri Slyusargeneral manager of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) of Rostec State Corporation, signed an agreement of intent for the purchase of 339 Russian aircraft. The ceremony took place on the 7 Eastern Economic Forum.

The agreement provides for the delivery of 210 MC-21 aircraft, 89 SSJ-NEW aircraft and 40 Tu-214 aircraft to Aeroflot Group under leasing conditions from 2023 to 2030. The document indicates that the group will receive the first two Superjet-NEW aircraft in 2023, and from 2024, deliveries of the first six MC-21 aircraft and the first seven Tu-214 aircraft are planned.

“Today we signed the largest agreement on the purchase of Russian-made aircraft in the recent history of Aeroflot. This is an important milestone that kick-starts and influences future prospects for the development of civil aviation in Russia. Aeroflot has successfully and efficiently operated the finest domestic aircraft throughout its nearly century-long history. The signing of this Agreement clearly demonstrates to the whole world that Russia remains a great aeronautical power with enormous potential and rich experience in the field of aeronautical construction, capable of producing reliable and modern aircraft”, Sergei Aleksandrovsky said.

“Historic changes are coming to civil aviation. Boeing and Airbus planes, which will probably never be delivered to Russia again, will be replaced by Russian-made passenger planes. Of the 339 aircraft, nearly 300 are next-generation MC-21 and Superjet aircraft. The Tu-214 will become a reliable support – this aircraft was previously made for special customers and has proven itself. The MC-21 will be the flagship of the Aeroflot fleet is the pride of our aviation industry, it boasts of innovative design solutions which I am sure will be appreciated by both pilots and passengers alike. I want to emphasize that all aircraft will be delivered with Russian-made on-board systems and components,” commented Sergei Chemezovgeneral manager of Rostec State Corporation.

“Thanks to the Aeroflot Group, we get a reliable partner for the entry into service of new generation airliners made in Russia. Given the unprecedented volume of the contract, its execution becomes one of the main priorities of UAC for the coming years, since the accessibility of transport of Russian regions and the mobility of the population of our country largely depend on it. Given the importance of the tasks entrusted to us, we plan to sign first firm contacts for the delivery of aircraft in 2023-2025 before the end of this year,” said Yuri Slyusar.

??-21 is a new generation medium-haul aircraft with a capacity of 163 to 211 passengers. The airliner focuses on the most mainstream segment of passenger transportation. The aircraft is being developed by the Engineering Center of the Irkut Corporation, and is manufactured by the Irkutsk Aviation Plant. The main advantages of the MC-21 are the application of composite wings and metal alloys as well as the introduction of next-generation on-board systems, advanced aerodynamics and the latest PD-14 engine.
