Asmir Begovic and Nathan Ake could both miss the winners’ medals if Chelsea clinch the title – although Oscar and Branislav Ivanovic will reclaim theirs despite leaving the club.
Chelsea will almost certainly win the title from London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and can wrap things up if they beat West Brom at the Hawthorns on Friday night.
The Premier League will provide Chelsea with 40 winners’ medals to share between players and staff if they win, but league rules state that players are only guaranteed a medal if they play at least five games.
Begovic made 17 league appearances last season but has only started once this year, while Ake has started only one game since Antonio Conte prematurely ended his loan at Bournemouth .
Ruben Loftus-Cheek has made five appearances on the bench and will therefore be assured of a medal, but youngsters Ola Aina, Dominic Solanke, Kenedy and Charly Musonda all risk missing out.
However, players who left the club within the January transfer window will be eligible to receive their prize. Oscar made 9 appearances before leaving for Chinese Super League team Shanghai SIPG, and Ivanović appeared 13 times before his move to Zenit Saint Petersburg.
However, there is still some hope for players who risk missing out on a medal. Chelsea can choose how their 40 medals are awarded, meaning Conte can always decide to reward his fringe players if he sees fit.
Clubs only receive the 40 medal limit if more than 39 players appear during the season.
With three games in the current season, Conte has used 23 different players.
