Port San Antonio President and CEO Talks the Future of Technology in the City of Alamo

SAN ANTONIO – The updated San Antonio Science and Technology Museum is one of the newest additions to Port San Antonio.

Along with space exploration, augmented reality, and Tesla coils, the museum strives to inspire the next generation.

Port San Antonio President and CEO Jim Pershbach joined Leading SA on Sunday to talk about the museum update and what comes next.

“It’s a chance to learn about the technology and techniques that are being developed here in San Antonio. Learn about everything from robotics and space exploration to cybersecurity and airplanes. And if kids are into it, well, we have programs that can help connect with educational opportunities, job opportunities, and entrepreneurial opportunities,” Pershbach said.

The Tech Port Center and Arena is operational and hosts events such as concerts and esports competitions.

“The attendance has been fantastic. And what’s wonderful is that we’re seeing people come here who wouldn’t normally come to a big tech campus like this, which we think is a lot of eye-openers in both directions,” a- he declared. “First, he shows people what’s going on in San Antonio. And second, it’s a great opportunity for people on this campus to meet other people in the community.

Upgrades and the influx of opportunities aren’t slowing down any time soon.

“There are a lot of them. As you know, we are about to launch two large large buildings, an electric aircraft terminal. And we think we have a few surprises that we’re going to announce in the next few weeks,” Pershbach said.

In fact, DeLorean, now headquartered in Port San Antonio, just released some of its first prototypes.

“I think what you’re going to see is a lot more companies like DeLorean combining head office operations, engineering operations and being really cutting edge. These new cars that they were showing at Pebble Beach show yesterday, I mean, they’re absolutely gorgeous. And they’re right about showing the best of what we can do here in San Antonio,” Pershbach said.
