Raytheon Intelligence & Space Selected to Conduct UTM Flight Tests of Unmanned Aircraft Systems Traffic Management

ARLINGTON – Raytheon Intelligence & Space, a Raytheon Technologies company, in collaboration with the Virginia Tech Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnershipor MAAP, and the Lone Star UAS Center of Excellence and Innovation was selected by the Federal Aviation Administration to participate in traffic management of unmanned aircraft systems Field test.

As part of this effort, the team will conduct UTM flight tests in complex environments.

The tests will include various missions, as well as UTM technology test updates such as data correlation using remote identification and updated cybersecurity.

The test results will provide the FAA with information to support policy development and help the industry update standards to support both routine line-of-sight and beyond line-of-sight operations. Updated testing infrastructure through field testing activities will enable continued collaboration between the FAA and the UTM community to support the maturation of the UTM ecosystem.
